 Interregnum–Neuronic-express 111

“Interregnum—Neuronic-express 111” examines an unknown, mysterious organism with imbedded angelic powers of light in an otherwise blank gap devoid of meaning, smothered in news print. This tactile printed word services as a supreme source of evaluated and measured knowledge—in contrast to our time’s growing dependence on virtual media coverage. It should signify a need for change and urgency of choice, perhaps even a spiritual enlightenment. “111” refers to a supposedly powerful angel, one which may help regenerate society and the planet after the onslaught of Covid19.

This multi-media work is part of a series of meditations questioning restricted vital movement, as well as media as an aesthetically and powerfully motivated determinant of communication, Terra Firma as a utopian sense of security, and interregnum as an uncertain vacuum between events. My interest lies in the inherent structures within cultural identities of the body as a bio-semiotic reader and recorder—with focus on the interface where biology and technology interact, characterizing overlapped, erased boundaries between geography, history and memory. Forms and thought shift, displaced from normal daily routine behavioural patterns.
